Examination

There are various ways of examining the elements of a study programme, i.e. various ways of assessing student performance. This can be done through written exams, take-home exams, written assignments, oral presentations, papers or laboratory work. You can read about the forms of examination for your study programme in the relevant course syllabi.

Written exams on Campus

Scheduled exam sessions are entered in the timetable for your course. The venue for the exam and other important information is added to the course timetable at the latest two days before the exam session. The timetable for the day is displayed on screens in Building 7.

Register for written exams

You must always register for a written exam on Campus, both ordinary sessions and re-exams. The registration opens 50 days before the exam and closes 14 days before the exam date. You register for an exam in the Student Portal under Web services, or use the Kronox app.

If you have received pedagogical support, you choose which support you want to use during the exam when you sign up.

We do not accept late registrations. However, it is possible to sign up for a queue list in the examination halls for a while before the exam starts. Those who are registered have the right to arrive 30 minutes late, so students on the queue must wait outside the halls for 30 minutes. Then we let people in according to the queue list, subject to space and exams. Note! This does not apply to digital examinations in Inspera, see Digital Examination in Inspera.

If you have registered and do not intend to take the exam, you need to unregister in Kronox. The possibility to unregister closes 14 days before the exam.

If you have any queries, please contact the study administration on student@hkr.se.

General information

How many times may I re-take an exam on my course?

There is usually no limit to the number of re-exams you can attempt as long as your course syllabus is still valid. If there is a limit, it will be stated in the course syllabus.

When an examination requires major resources, the number of permitted re-exams may be limited. This applies to tests which involve practical elements such as laboratory work or study visits. In such cases, you are entitled to a maximum of five re-exams.

If you have not passed the exam after two attempts, you are entitled to apply for a change of examiner. The decision applies to the upcoming/next examination.

Before your first exam session, it is important that you read our rules and procedures:

  • Examination guidelines
  • Cheating – what rules apply?

Exam results

You can view your exam results on the Student portal.

Sign out your marked written exam at the exam feedback session or at the reception desk in building 7.
