Introduction
The University’s vision “To educate the most employable students in Sweden” was made explicit in the document “Strategy 2012”, which describes plans for future development at Kristianstad University. 
Five strategic areas are described, including two primary goals within each area, and a number of specific measures to be undertaken in order to achieve  our goals. 
The measures which directly describe the work of internationalization are:
“Create English-language educational programs in selected areas of knowledge”
“Introduce distinctive international perspectives in the programs”
“Increase  international mobility between students and staff”

Policy
The international dimension is significant for the aim of realizing the vision “To educate the most employable students in Sweden”, both to strengthen and deepen the quality of education, research, co-operation and support. In the context of an increasingly global employment market, international experience gives a greater competitive advantage, and also contributes to personal development.

Kristianstad University shall work for an increased international mobility between different educational systems and labor markets, by supporting and facilitating international mobility, as well as other forms of international co-operation; at the same time, it will also prepare students and employees for such mobility and co-operation.

Furthermore, Kristianstad University shall foster an internal environment in which students and staff can work together to promote understanding of other cultures and traditions, human rights and a globally sustainable use of resources.  The University must be able to stimulate the development of educational programs in English, aimed at Swedish and international students, with a basis in international research co-operation.

Main general aims:
Creation of an effective organization for promoting internationalization, while at the same time making clear the division of labor between the different parts of the organization.

Make it possible for students to spend part of their study period abroad.
Make it easier for foreign students to study at Kristianstad University.

To create a network in accordance with the intentions formulated in the document “Strategy for Research and Education 2008 – 2012”, while seeking to maintain a balance between incoming and outgoing students within the terms of the partnership agreement.

To foster movement of staff to and from the University, within strategically important areas, and to ensure the availability of courses and programs in English, particularly at advanced level, which will give the students the possibility to maintain the competence that is sought by the international labor market.

To keep an international perspective in educational planning, and in cases that actually arise in planning courses, make use of international experience through information and integration in courses offered.
