Agneta Jonsson
I work with preschool teacher education, research and contract education at Kristianstad University, Faculty of Education. I have been interested in preschool education throughout my professional career, in particular the childhood, learning and development of the youngest children in the institutional context of preschool. In addition to teaching and conducting research at Kristianstad University, I have 20 years of experience as a preschool teacher in preschool, school and after school care.
In 2013, I completed my PhD in Child and Youth Studies at the University of Gothenburg. Thesis title: Creating curriculum for the youngest children in preschool. Children's perspectives and didactics of the present moment.
I lead the research environment BALU (Childhood, Learning and Education) and I am a member of Kristianstad University's steering committee for the Research Platform Collaboration for learning.
I am participating in an ongoing research and development project which involves collaboration between universities and preschools, the aim of which is to further develop theories of play-based preschool didactics, that is, a teaching theory for preschool. The aim of the project is to produce and share new knowledge about how didactics for preschool can be designed in such a way so as not to exclude and instead be responsive to and based on children's play. The collaborating partners in this project are the University of Gothenburg, Linnaeus University and Kristianstad University. For the three-year period 2017-2019, funding has been provided by the Swedish Institute for Educational Research.
Another ongoing project focuses on the way preschool teachers approach the teaching of science and sustainability issues at preschool. This is done through collaboration between members of Kristianstad University's research environments BALU and LISMA (Learning in Science and Mathematics).
