The focus of my research is health-promotion and preventative measures in municipal health and welfare organisations. This research is conducted in collaboration with healthcare professionals, social workers, support staff and managements and emphasises wellbeing and health in the workplace from a holistic perspective that encompasses both working and private life.
I graduated as a public health educator in 2002 and have worked for many years in the field of health promotion in municipal organisations. My employment and projects have primarily been within social services and education departments, mainly specialising in alcohol, narcotics, doping and tobacco (ANDT) and health-promotion initiatives aimed at children and adolescents, as well as preventative and promotional activities in the field of occupational healthcare. In my previous position as head of section for a preventative unit, in addition to the above areas I worked in prevention and health promotion for the elderly, community outreach and voluntary activities and support to families.
I started my own business in 2009 with a focus on lectures, stress-profiling, consultation and yoga classes.
During my working life, a number of public health projects raised many issues that I was interested in studying further and in 2009 I accepted a part-time position as a doctoral researcher at Kristianstad University.
Research
My research interests are broad and I have a genuine interest in and curiosity regarding how we can work in various ways to promote and create the conditions for good and equitable health from a variety of perspectives, at different levels and with various target groups.
In 2018, I defended my doctoral dissertation, Finding one’s own strength: Workplace health promotion through BELE-a program for promoting work-life balance among female professionals in human service organizations. The aim of the thesis was to explore resources contributing to work-life balance, as well as to develop a workplace health promotion intervention aimed at promoting a good work-life balance and wellbeing among employees.
During my time as a manager in municipal organisations I participated in the Research Platform Collaborative Group and the project Preventative Home Visits to the Elderly.
I have been a member of the research environment People-Health-Society since 2009.
Teaching
I teach university and online courses on the subjects public health sciences and health education. I also supervise degree projects in the field of public health sciences.
