Grossi Edited Issue of Top Journal
Giuseppe Grossi, professor in business administration at Kristianstad University, was selected as guest editor for an issue in the top journal Critical Perspectives on Accounting. Here is his summary of that experience. (Publicerad 3 februari)
The last issue (Volume 24, Issues 7–8, November 2013) of Critical Perspectives on Accounting, CPA, includes the special issue theme on "Public Sector Governance and Accountability". Guest editors, in addition to me, were Roland Almquist, Stockholm University; G. Jan van Helden, Groningen University; Christoph Reichard, Potsdam University.
It was a great opportunity for me to act as co-guest editor of such relevant accounting journal and collaborate with other international scholars interested in accounting and public management topics. It was a very hard competition as we selected only five articles out of more than thirty papers submitted for the CPA special issue.
The collection of papers in this special issue has primarily been drawn from the papers written by different scholars from EU countries, Australia and Canada representing the ''Corporate Governance and accountability in the Public Sector'' stream of the Seventh International Critical Management Studies Conference (CMS 7), which was held at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in July 2011. The stream was inspired by international reforms focused on the modernization of governments.
Critical Perspectives on Accounting aims to provide a forum for the growing number of accounting researchers and practitioners who realize that conventional theory and practice is ill-suited to the challenges of the modern environment, and that accounting practices and corporate behavior are inextricably connected with many allocative, distributive, social, and ecological problems of our era. CPA is a top journal in accounting, and according to the Journal Ranking of the Association of Business School (2010) is the journal in accountancy with highest number of citations (see associationofbusinessschools.org).
