OneDrive

OneDrive is the official space for the storage of digital files in the Cloud for students and employees at Kristianstad University. OneDrive makes it easy to store, access, manage, update, and share files and folders from anywhere and from any device. Feel free to use OneDrive as your primary drive for storing and managing your files.

OneDrive is easy to use and has several very useful features such as:

  • Access your files anytime, anywhere, from any of your devices, i.e. your computer, smartphone or tablet.
  • Capability to share data with and within your organisation.
  • Store up to 1 TB (max. 15 GB file-size level).
  • Collaborative (simultaneous) editing without the hassle of version management/revision control.
  • Easy integration with your other Office apps.
  • Several features to increase security in regards to your documents.
  • You can synchronise your files to your personal computer/smartphone for offline management.
  • Create and edit Office files in the Cloud using Web apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.

What you need to do to enable access to OneDrive

  • You can click the “waffle” (the nine small squares) in the top left of the student portal via Office 365 on https://portal.office.com/account# , and then select the OneDrive app.
  • You can also sign in to your OneDrive account via https://onedrive.live.com/about/sv-se/signin/
  • You log on with your student e-mail address as your Login ID and your password that you also use for other services at Kristianstad University.

This is “OneDrive for Business,” even though it only states OneDrive. The first time you click on OneDrive, there may be a delay of a minute or so for the account to be set up and activated. A message that states “We’re almost ready!” may appear, i.e. your account has been set up and is in the process of being activated.

Once the account is set-up, clicking on OneDrive will display a folder and file view.

How to create, load, share, and delete files on OneDrive

To create a new file, click “New” (or “Nytt,” depending on language setting) and select the document type you want to create, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote. It is also possible to create new folders in that view.

To upload a file, click on the option “Upload” (or ”Ladda upp” ), then select the file you want to upload and click “Open” (or ”Öppna”).

To share a document with others, select the file and click Share (or “Dela”) either to the right of the file or at the top of the bar. In the next window, enter a name or E-mail address (or multiple addressees) that you want to share the file with, and then click on.

To delete a file or folder, click the dots next to it and click “Delete” (or “Ta bort”) or click on the file/folder up on the list on the icon.

Instructions

There are rules of conduct in line with the University’s information security policy that you as a user must adhere to when storing or sharing information in the Cloud. See the instructions for Microsoft’s Office365 Online Services.
