Two-factor authentication for students to be introduced in autumn 2026
During the autumn semester of 2026, Kristianstad University will introduce two-factor authentication (Multi-Factor Authentication, MFA) for students. This means that, in addition to your regular password, you will need to verify your login using an app on your mobile phone when signing in to the university’s systems.
Two-factor authentication is a security measure that strengthens the protection of both your personal data and the university’s systems. Once the solution has been implemented, you will use it when logging in to services such as Canvas and Ladok.
In practice, this means that you will approve your login through an Authenticator app on your mobile phone.
You do not need to take any action at this time
The implementation will take place during the autumn semester of 2026. Before then, you will receive information about when the change will take effect and how to install and activate the Authenticator app.
We will provide further information through the Student Web and other communication channels when the time comes.
