Qinghua Wang
Qinghua Wang is a Docent and Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Kristianstad University (HKR) in Sweden.
He received his B.Eng. degree in automatic control from Harbin Engineering University, China, in 2002, and Ph.D. degree in computer and system sciences from Mid Sweden University (Mittuniversitetet), Sweden, in 2010. He became a Docent at HKR in 2017.
Before he joined HKR in 2012, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher firstly at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway and then at Aalto University in Finland. Qinghua received the Best Paper Award in the 5th annual conference on communication networks and services research (CNSR) in 2007, and the 'Alain Bensoussan' fellowship from the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) in 2010. Qinghua has been a member of the IEEE (i.e. the world's largest Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) since 2007, and a Senior Member there since 2015. He is currently a board member at the IEEE Sweden Section (with roughly 2000 domestic members).
At Kristianstad University, Qinghua is teaching both undergraduate level and graduate level courses. Among the others, Qinghua is mainly teaching computer security, wireless communication, and the Internet of things. He is also working either as a supervisor or the examiner for students' final thesis works (at both undergraduate and graduate levels).
Qinghua is an active researcher in the fields Internet of things and network security. He is mainly interested in the application of smart sensors and wireless communication systems in E-health, environmental monitoring, smart home, smart city and intelligent traffic systems. Of course, in addition to the system setup itself, one of the big concerns here is data security and privacy. Another interest is the applying of artificial intelligence algorithms on the Big Data analysis, as a wireless sensor system would inevitably create a huge amount of data and the interpretation of the data could be a challenge.
During 2018-2020, Qinghua is one of the 13 researchers at Kristianstad University who have received strategic support from the highest administration for working actively towards a future promotion either to a Docent or to a Full Professor.
