Credits and grading
Sweden uses credits called "högskolepoäng" (higher education credits), which is compatible with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Under the Swedish system, one academic year of full-time studies is equivalent to 60 higher education credits (60 ECTS)
Assessment is made on the educational goals
In all forms of education, the students' learning is to be assessed based on the educational goals of the course set in the syllabus and graded after each examination. The grading is to be carried out by the examiner appointed by the University.
Appeal
A student may not appeal a given grade. If you have failed a course or part of a course at least twice you have the right to require a change of examiner.
A student who has passed a course or part thereof may not take a re-examination in order to obtain a higher grade.
More information about the Swedish Credit and Degree system can be found at www.studyinsweden.se
Results
On the Student portal you can see your results at the University, print out grade certificates and registration certificates.
The examiner is to communicate results to students at the latest 15 days after the exam.
In the first instance, you should contact the responsible teacher or course manager, otherwise contact the study administration at student@hkr.se
Can I appeal my grade?
No you can not. However, the examiner can reconsider his decision and under certain conditions decide on a different grade. If you believe that your grade is manifestly incorrect, you can therefore request that the examiner reconsider the grade decision. The University recommends that you apply for reconsideration via a special application that the University provides to ensure that the information needed for the case is received in a comprehensive manner and to facilitate legally secure assessment of the case and minimize the processing time. Request for amendment or reconsideration.
Remember to wait until after any exam review before requesting a re-examination!
Can I transfer credits from a course or a course component?
Yes, read more about credit transfer.
