HR Research Award Process
Kristianstad University has initiated a strategic process to obtain the HR Excellence in Research Award, granted by the European Commission. This work is carried out within the framework of the HR research award process, which aims to create an attractive, sustainable, and inclusive research environment for our researchers.
HR Excellence in Research Award
The award is granted by the European Commission to universities and research institutions that actively work to improve researchers’ working conditions, recruitment processes, and career development opportunities. It is based on a set of principles that define a fair, transparent, and professional research environment.
The HR Reserach Award Process at HKR
By aligning with and implementing the principles of the European Charter for Researchers, Kristianstad University will strengthen working conditions, enhance career development, and ensure open, transparent and merit-based recruitment practices. The goal is to foster a research environment where researchers thrive and grow while also strengthening HKR’s position in the European Research Area.
The process in brief
- In 2025, Kristianstad University formally endorsed the European Charter for Researchers.
- Researchers and other stakeholders participated in surveys and workshops.
- A Gap Analysis was conducted during the winter of 2025/2026 to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- During the spring of 2026, an Action Plan was developed, outlining priority measures for the coming years.
- The application for the HR Excellence in Research Award will be submitted to the European Commission in autumn 2026.
Letter of Endorsement
As part of the application, Vice-Chancellor Håkan Pihl has signed a Letter of Endorsement (pdf, 479 kB), formally committing Kristianstad University to the European Charter for Researchers and its long-term implementation.
