Not allowed to bring in and charge lithium-ion batteries in the university premises
Due to the risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in electric bikes and electric scooters, it is prohibited to bring in and charge these batteries in our premises. The ban also applies to other lithium-ion batteries larger than 10 Ah.
The university's insurance has changed, which means altered rules for the storage and handling of all lithium-ion batteries used for transport devices, such as electric bikes, electric scooters, and similar, as well as other lithium-ion batteries larger than 10 Ah. Fires and explosions in lithium-ion batteries are rare, but if they do occur, the fire can be very difficult to control, and the consequences can be severe. Kammarkollegiet's insurance does not fully or partially cover damages caused by these batteries.
Equipment or mobility devices for individuals with disabilities may be used without restrictions within the university premises.
Storage of electric bikes and batteries
There is a locked enclosure for bicycles outside building 21. A cabinet that meets safety standards is also available, where you can securely store and charge your battery.
Students of the university can gain access to the locked area by sending an email to student@hkr.se. Please include your first and last name along with your HKR email address in the email. Within a week, you will have access with your HKR card as long as you are enrolled in a programme.
Staff of the university can use the locked area with your HKR access card.
Visitors can use the enclosure to park and charge their bicycles. However, your host must help you unlock the area. Please also bring your own padlock.
