Bioanalysis at Kristianstad University on International Collaboration Visit to Ferrara
In May 2026, a delegation from the Bioanalysis programme at Kristianstad University visited the University of Ferrara in Italy as part of ongoing international collaboration in education and professional development in biomedical laboratory science. The delegation consisted of eight staff members from Bioanalysis and one representative from the university’s International Relations office.
The University of Ferrara is one of the partner institutions within the European University Alliance COLOURS, of which Kristianstad University is a member. The visit formed part of the growing collaboration between the institutions.
Over three intensive days, the delegation participated in workshops, site visits and strategic discussions together with colleagues from the University of Ferrara and the Sant’Anna University Hospital in Cona. The programme included visits to laboratory units in clinical chemistry, microbiology, haematology, transfusion medicine and pathology, as well as presentations on educational structures, professional roles and research environments.
The delegation from Kristianstad experienced a high level of openness and strong engagement from both the university and the hospital. It was also valuable to observe many similarities in curricula and clinical training, providing a solid foundation for future joint courses and educational initiatives.
The discussions resulted in concrete plans for continued collaboration. The institutions have already agreed to develop an undergraduate exchange semester, with the potential to expand this into a full academic year. The next step will be further discussions on collaboration at the master’s level. In parallel, ongoing research exchange between the institutions is also being planned.
The visit was characterised by a strong shared perspective on education, professional development and future international opportunities, and both parties are very positive about continuing the collaboration.
