Kristianstad University paved the way for successful app developer
Unhappy with the training apps that existed at the time, Zoltan Demant created an exercise app to suit his own needs. The app became immensely popular with up to 150 000 users. Zoltan's journey to success included the Bachelor Programme in Software Development at Kristianstad University.
–I've always been interested in programming and how things work. Since I wanted to keep my apartment in Malmö, Kristianstad University was the best option for me, he says. The programme enabled personal growth as he had just graduated from high school and stepping out on his own.
–It was a very fun time and I learned a lot of things which I still benefit from today. The programme is well structured, connecting different elements leading up to the writing of a master thesis.
–It made us more flexible and we got the opportunity to learn about different cultures in a whole new way.
Progression
Zoltan had more going on than programming, as he was enthusiastic about
weightlifting. During his time at Kristianstad University he developed an app, which allows a user to track their training records.
–I was tired of writing down my training results on paper, and since I couldn't find a suitable app for it, I decided to develop my own. The app is easy to understand and simple to use. In 2013 he launched Progression.
–It provides a schedule where you can write down your results and track the progress of your training. It gives users access to statistics, enabling them to analyse their workouts in order to find the optimal training model suited to their needs.
The concept has been highly successful. In October 2015 the app became a part of Google Play, increasing the number of users to 150 000 persons.
I almost can't believe it. But I am very happy that the app has received so much positive recognition. Currently I am developing another app to complement Progression. I'm enjoying every second of it and am very excited about the future.
Zoltan believes that without his education at Kristianstad University he would not have been able to achieve this level of success. Bachelor Programme in Software Development gave me a lot of knowledge and lessons that I think will benefit the rest of my career.
