“I absolutely recommend studying at Kristianstad University to anyone who wants to combine the academic aspect with practical work.”
Marian John Müller, a German alumnus of the Master of Science in marketing, has an event and marketing background, mostly organizing outdoor lifestyle events.
John also worked in marketing spirits and had his own fashion label. The decision to study in Kristianstad and Sweden was easy.
– I already lived in Skåne and wanted to stay here, so it seemed the optimal choice. I enjoy living in Sweden and spending time in the beautiful nature, engaging in outdoor activities like climbing. Swedish spring and summer are one of a kind.
Practical work and real projects
John highlights the programme’s combination of practical work with various projects and group assignments, providing new perspectives on marketing.
– The work-integrated learning was very exciting. It involved implementing and testing our knowledge with a real company.
Keys to success: teamwork and collaboration
Reflecting on the most rewarding aspect of his time as a student:
– Working in groups and developing great teamwork skills next to the academic content. Learning how to compromise, support each other, and meet deadlines together, were great preparations for working life.
“I absolutely recommend studying at Kristianstad University to anyone who wants to combine the academic aspect with practical work.”
Reflecting on a special day, he recalls when students organized a special Midsummer event for those who had to leave early and missed out on the traditional celebration.
– After completing our theses everyone went the extra mile to create a memorable experience, showcasing the strong bonds we had formed during our time together.
Career aspirations
In a reflection of his career aspirations, John envisions advancing in the field of sales, closely intertwined with marketing. His current role, covering the DACH market, offers both excitement and challenges, allowing him to apply his expertise in various international contexts. Notably, proficiency in a foreign language, which once posed difficulties, has become a strength.
– Working in a different language used to be hard but is not an issue anymore, which I believe is in part due to the extensive amount of English we spoke during the programme.
