What I learned in class was put into practice
With a bachelor's degree in marketing and a background in digital marketing analysis, Alexandra wanted to continue on her path into a new area. International business was new and exciting for her, and the one-year master programme in Kristianstad caught her interest. Meet our alumni Alexandra Vancic from Austria!
Why did you choose the Master Programme in Business Administration specialising in International Business and Marketing?
– As I had already studied marketing in my bachelor's degree and worked my way from marketing assistant to digital marketing analyst in various areas, I wanted to continue on this path. So I explicitly looked for a master programme in marketing. But not just marketing, because I was afraid that a lot of what I already knew would be repeated. International business was completely new and exciting for me.
Why did you choose to study at Kristianstad University? And why Sweden?
– I always had Sweden in mind as a country with a high educational standard, which is why it was so exciting for me to actually study in Sweden. When I started looking for master programmes, I immediately noticed Kristianstad University, because of its sustainability aspects.
– In addition, the master programme also offers a Work Integrated Learning Project, which I found very relevant in order to put what I learned in class into practice.
– The location was also important for me, and as Kristianstad has good train connection and is only an hour from Malmö and an hour and a half from Copenhagen, it was perfect.
What was the best experience from your studies and your stay in Kristianstad and Sweden?
– The best thing about studying at Kristianstad University was being surrounded by like-minded and ambitious people. The class is very international and the discussions on certain economic topics made it possible to learn so much about the points of view of other cultures. Personally, that allowed me to become more open-minded.
– In addition, the professors were also very motivated, and it was fun to go to class. I did a lot with the other students outside the class; we travelled through Sweden, chased the northern lights, went on a husky sleigh ride, and had countless culinary experiences.
What are your plans after this programme?
– After my master's degree, I want to work in business development for a while before I start my own company. However, I am currently facing the decision of whether to stay in Sweden or go back home.
Any tips for future international students?
– Be open! So many new experiences await you and these ten months in a place like Kristianstad can be used well for personal development.
