CYPHiSCO – Children’s and Young People’s Health in Social Context
The research group CYPHiSCO unites researchers at Kristianstad University with an interest in the mental and physical health, well-being and participation of children, adolescents and young adults.
Several scientific disciplines contribute with their respective perspectives: health sciences, public health sciences, nursing, sports science, psychology, pedagogy and social work. CYPHiSCO is multidisciplinary, with faculty collaboration. The different disciplines put the health of young people in context of interpersonal relationships, living conditions, lifestyle, culture and social conditions. Health is seen as a continuum of well-being and participation, on the one hand, and expressions of ill health as well as clinical diagnoses on the other. Within the research group, basic research is carried out on factors related to health / ill health, and applied research such as action research or intervention studies. An overall theme in the research group is how children's and young people's participation and space of action constitute important aspects of their health and well-being from a salutogenic perspective.
