FOHRK is a regional research and education profile at Kristianstad University, focusing on food, health, and retail. Through collaboration with businesses, public institutions, and the surrounding community, FOHRK develops interdisciplinary research and education initiatives. The goal is to contribute to the development of a more sustainable society.
Why food, health, and retail?
Kristianstad University is located in one of Sweden's most important regions for food production and innovation. Over the years, collaborations have been developed with companies driving product development and innovation both nationally and internationally. The university also collaborates with Krinova Incubator & Science Park, which has a large network of companies within the food sector. In the areas of food and retail, there has long been a well-established collaboration with industry. In the field of health, the university has been strong in both research and education for many years and, since 2020, offers education at the doctoral level. Together, there are excellent conditions to develop an internationally competitive research and education profile that will contribute to regional development and growth.
Collaborations and funding
FOHRK is built on close collaborations with a broad network of actors in business, the public sector, and academia. Key partners include the aforementioned Krinova Incubator & Science Park and several companies in food production and retail. Additionally, FOHRK collaborates with public actors such as municipalities and regions to promote research and development in both sustainable health and food systems.
FOHRK is funded through a combination of internal resources from Kristianstad University and external grants from research councils, regional development funds, and private companies.
