GCM - Group Concept Mapping
PRO-CARE has been working for several years with Group Concept Mapping (GCM), which is a participant-driven scientific process based on mixed qualitative and quantitative methods.
GCM (previously known as Concept Mapping) combines qualitative idea generation, quantitative data analysis and qualitative interpretation to visually represent the collective understanding of a group on a particular topic. The method involves participants brainstorming ideas, sorting them conceptually and then rating them, for example in terms of importance. Data are analysed to create maps that show the relationships between ideas, facilitating structured group discussions, planning and insight into complex issues.
