K. Ingemar Jönsson
I am ecologist with a doctoral degree in theoretical ecology (Lund University, 1996). My main interests in research has been life history evolution and eco-physiological adaptations in desiccation tolerance of so-called anhydrobiotic organisms, with particular focus on tardigrades. Tardigrades are one of the most radiation tolerant animals on Earth, and current research is focused on studying the patterns of tolerance to radiation, and to reveal the underlying mechanisms.
I am also interested in interdisciplinary research in environmental science, related to environmental policy and ecosystem services. Current projects in environmental science include studies on:
- Ecological compensation as a policy tool in municipalities.
- implementation of the ecosystem services concept in municipal planning and decision-making.
- Ecosystem services for outdoor recreation.
- Eco-labeling strategies from an evolutionary and psychological perspective.
