Research
I am a doctoral student in Nursing Science at Malmö University since 2015 connected to the Research Platform for Collaboration for Health at Kristianstad University. My thesis is part of the project Existential loneliness – a challenge in the care of frail older people, where my focus is on people over the age of 75 years and their experiences of existential loneliness.
Background
I completed my Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Kristianstad University in 1992, and since then I have been working as a nurse, mainly in the primary healthcare sector, home care and specialised palliative care. I obtained my Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing from Lund University in 1999, focusing on oncological and palliative care. Since 2004, I have been working as a lecturer and teacher at the nursing programme here at Kristianstad University.
I am interested in improving care for older people in need of long-term medical and social care. Raising awareness regarding the existential aspects and the needs of older people during end-of-life care and adding a more person-centred approach in healthcare is an urgent matter. We need to highlight the wellbeing of older people in various health and social care contexts, and for this reason, it is also important to focus on the meeting between older persons and the health professionals providing their care.
