The Human Being in Working Life (MiA)
The Human Being in Working Life (MiA) is an interdisciplinary research environment that brings together researchers with a shared interest: understanding the conditions, behaviours, and experiences of people in working life. The environment is grounded in the central importance of work for both individuals and society, and includes research with roots in psychology, sociology, work science, public health, law, and business administration.
Our research
Within MiA, we explore the many dimensions of working life – from leadership, power, and organization to relationships, emotions, conflicts, digitalization, and health. We investigate how workplaces, processes, and demands shape people’s motivation, development, and well-being.
Our research is characterized by a strong tradition of collaboration and action research. We work closely with public organizations, non-profit actors, and the business community – not only during data collection but as an integrated part of the entire research process. The individuals and organizations affected by the research often participate actively in developing knowledge and solutions.
Contributing to navigation in a changing world
Working life is changing rapidly. Digitalization, increased diversity, globalization, new production demands, and sustainability goals create both opportunities and challenges. At a time when work remains one of the most decisive factors for people’s quality of life and for societal development, research on the human being in working life is more important than ever.
MiA is a vibrant and supportive research environment and aims to be a hub for research on people in working life. By bringing together researchers with different perspectives, theories, and methods, we create a dynamic setting that contributes to new knowledge and a more sustainable working life.
MiA marks the next step in advancing work-life research at Kristianstad University – an initiative that strengthens the academic community and makes a tangible difference in working life.
