Experiences from former exchange students
What's it like to be an exchange student at Kristianstad University? Well, we let some of our students tell their own stories of their stay in Sweden. Read what they have to say.
Hannah from Germany
Hej, I am Hannah, a public health student from Germany and this semester I study as an exchange student at Kristianstad University. Here I study the courses Sensory Evaluation of Food, Intercultural Communication and Sweden Culture and Society. I’m here now for 5 weeks already and the time went by so fast. My experiences with the other students and teachers have been very welcoming and I am enjoying my free time with the friends I have met here and some ”Kannelbullar”. I am really looking forward to making many new memories and having fika in the sun! Best regards from Sweden!
Francesco from Italy
Hej! I'm Francesco, I study Economics, Politics and Ethics at the Free University of Bolzano in Italy and I'm spending this semester as an exchange student at Kristianstad University. The courses I’m attending are Business English, Financial Markets and Instruments, Sweden: Culture and Society and Corporate Social Responsibility.
I've met incredible people, made friends from all over the world here, and truly stepped out of my comfort zone.
Joining the University’s Sports Union HKIF was definitely the best decision, playing volleyball with them has been the highlight of my experience so far. I look forward to enjoying the months ahead and making connections that will last beyond this semester.
Giulia from Germany
Hej! I am Giulia, a student of Sustainable Service and Food Systems in Germany, and I'm spending this semester as an exchange student at Kristianstad University in Sweden.
Here, I am taking courses such as Sustainable Food and Meals, Complexity of Food Choice, and Intercultural Communication.
The first seven weeks have flown by. I have met so many new people and experienced many great things. From hikes in nature and Swedish fika to beach walks, international dinners, trips to new cities, and even seeing the Northern Lights.
I have really enjoyed my time here so far and I am looking forward to making many more experiences and memories.
Wang Chuanming from Hong Kong
Hi, I am Wang Chuanming, a Cultural Studies student at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. This spring semester, I have the opportunity to study as an exchange student at Kristianstad University in Sweden.
This exchange semester has been a very valuable experience for me. It has given me the chance not only to study in a new academic environment, but also to experience a different culture and way of life. As a Cultural Studies student, I find it especially meaningful to learn through both academic study and everyday experience. Living in Sweden has encouraged me to reflect more deeply and critically on culture, identity, and the connections between people from different backgrounds, and it has greatly inspired my dissertation project.
Living abroad has taught me how to take better care of myself, and cooking has become an important part of my daily life. From trying new recipes to sharing meals with friends, I have found that food can also be a meaningful way to connect with others and experience different cultures.
I really enjoy my time at Kristianstad University. I appreciate the peaceful environment, the supportive atmosphere, and the opportunity to meet people from different countries. What was most special was that we spent the traditional Chinese New Year together! Thank you again to all my friends; these experiences made my semester in Sweden both fulfilling and unforgettable.
I am very thankful for this opportunity, and I believe it will remain one of the most meaningful parts of my life journey.
