Teacher Education

Kristianstad University offers a wide range of programmes and courses for future and current teachers. We have undergraduate programmes in pre-school, primary, secondary and post compulsory education.

For exchange students we offer different packages of courses, which are all related to teacher education: pedagogical work and the idea of a school for all. As an exchange student you will also have the possibility to take part in a school placement.

Kristianstad University is a modern university situated in southern Sweden. We offer top quality education with a strong focus on internationalization.

Preschool and Primary Education

Teacher education at Kristianstad University is based on basic democratic values, modern childhood and knowledge about individual children’s learning and development.

Swedish preschool is a place to grow for children between 1 and 5 years old. There is a focus on basic values such as playing together, tolerance and consideration for others. Outdoor activities are key and children play outside at every opportunity.
Swedish compulsory schooling consists of four stages for children between the ages of 6 and 15: preschool year, primary school grades 1-3, followed by grades 4–6 and then high school grades 7–9.Children between ages 6 and 13 are also offered out-of-school care before and after school hours.
