Library terms and conditions
Valid as of July 1, 2019
The library at Kristianstad University (HKR) is open in the first instance for the university's students and staff, but also to the general public. To be able to borrow from the university library, you need a library account.
As the holder of a library account at HKR, you conclude an agreement with the library under which you undertake to comply with current terms and conditions. The terms and conditions may change, and as a patron you must keep yourself informed of any changes.
Library account
- To be eligible for a library account at HKR's library, you must be 18 years of age or older or admitted for a course at HKR.
- The library account is non-transferable and you are responsible for all loans registered to your account. You can block your account at My Loans on the library's website or by contacting us.
- If you are a student you become a patron by registering for a library account in the Student portal.
- If you are not a student you become a patron by visiting the university library. Please bring a valid photo ID.
- The library sends messages by email, text message and letter, but cannot guarantee that these messages are delivered. You are always responsible for renewing or returning loans on time.
- You are personally responsible for reporting any changes in contact details to the library. This can be done via My loans.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can order a new one through Forgot password.
Loans and loan periods
- The normal loan period for printed material is 21 days (30 days for distance learning students and interlibrary loans).
- Day loans must be returned before the library opens on the next working day and you cannot reserve them.
- Reference literature, magazines and daily newspapers cannot be borrowed.
- You are obliged to observe loan periods and to return or renew material on time. This also applies in the event of, for example, travel or illness.
- You are responsible for any costs of returning material to the library.
- You can renew a loan via My loans if the material has not been reserved. You can renew up to six times and then the material has to be returned.
- You are responsible for your loans until they have been registered as returned.
- Borrowed material must be returned in undamaged condition.
-
A representative can borrow material on your behalf if the representative can present photo ID or your library card, or use your details to log in on a self-service checkout station.
Interlibrary loans and copies of articles
- Students and staff can order interlibrary loans and copies of articles, and the purpose must be study or research.
- If the material is already owned by the university's library, you cannot order it from another library.
- The loan period is always determined by the lending library.
- If the book is not returned upon request, the borrower is charged with the fee that the library is obliged to pay the lending library.
- Certain interlibrary loans may not be taken home, but may only be read in the library.
Charges
- If material is overdue, a late return fine is charged to your library account.
- If you owe SEK 100 or more, you cannot borrow or renew. All debts are paid at the library's information desk or via My Loans.
- In the event of lost or damaged material, you pay a replacement fee or replace it with an undamaged, similar copy.
- If you do not return material you will receive an invoice with a replacement fee and possible late return fines. If you return the material the replacement fee will be credited. The replacement fee will not be credited if you return the material after you have paid the replacement fee.
