Library information for distance learning student
Students who are studying web based courses or distance learning courses at Kristianstad University and are resident outside Kristianstad Municipality may use the library remotely. If you live in Kristianstad Municipality, you are instead welcome to pay us a visit to borrow items.
If you wish to order material and are studying a distance learning course at another university, contact the library at your university or a public library. Bear in mind that many libraries at other universities are open to everyone for borrowing.
Become a patron
To become a patron you register for a library account in the Student portal.
The library´s terms and conditions apply.
Borrowing and reserving books
We send books to you at no charge to the address specified in your library account (within Sweden only). The delivery time is around three working days by post. If the book is not available, we send it to you when it is your turn. You are responsible for the cost of returning books to the library. Books can also be returned at any of the public libraries in Bromölla, Hässleholm, Hörby, Kristianstad, Osby and Östra Göinge.
The loan period is 30 days. You can renew the loan up to six times if the book has not been reserved, then it has to be returned. Each renewal entitles you to a new loan period of 21 days. The late return fine is SEK 5 per book per day. You can renew a loan after a loan period has expired, but a late return fine will be charged to your library account.
Instructions on how to borrow a book
- SEARCH
Search for the book in the library catalogue to find out if the book is available at the library. - ORDER
If the book is available you can order it with the order form. (The order form is in Swedish, if you find it difficult to use you can send an email to biblioteket@hkr.se instead.) - PLACE HOLD
If the book is on loan you can place a hold on it in the library catalogue. - HOLD MESSAGE
When the book has been returned to the library you will get an e-mail saying that the book is available for pick-up. If you want the book to be sent to you by post you simply reply to that e-mail.
Ordering books via interlibrary loans
Material that is not owned by us can be ordered as an interlibrary loan via us; complete our order form. You can also contact a public library. Books borrowed via an interlibrary loan are delivered as above, but expect a delivery time of around ten days within Sweden. The loan period is determined by the lending library. Please note that you cannot return books borrowed via an interlibrary loan at another library.
Order copies of articles
You can order copies of articles via the order form and the copies will be sent to your address. The charge for the order is charged to your library account as a liability. You must be registered with us as a patron to be able to place an order.
