Hi there, new student!

Welcome to Kristianstad University as a non-exchange international student. Before you get started with your studies, there are a few things you need to do. Follow our step-by-step guide to make sure you don’t miss anything important.

Before arrival

1. Pay tuition fee and apply for residence permit

Students with citizenship in countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are required to pay application- and tuition fees. Please go to the page tuition fee for more information.

Once the fee for the first semester is paid, you can apply for your residence permit. Acquiring a residence permit for studies takes time. We advise you to start the application process as soon as you receive the admission notice from the selection result. Residence permit applications are handled by the Swedish Migration Agency and can be made online, the fastest way to get a residence permit.

See this video series about the residence permit application process by Study in Sweden to learn more.

2. Accommodation, insurance and living costs

Organise your accommodation before your arrival. Please visit the page accommodation for more information about how and when to apply.

Make sure to be insured for your stay in Sweden. Please go to the page insurance for more information about health insurance and home insurance.

It is important to make arrangements for living costs, please visit the page living costs to find out more.
